Sometimes, individuals who have MBA degrees are chosen for managerial positions because of their expertise. Additionally, many executives may feel that pursuing an MBA shows the individual has initiative and a desire to advance his or her knowledge.
Sitecore, which provides .NET Web Content Management System (CMS) software, has appointed Jean-Paul Gomes as the company's new vice president of strategic alliances. In this position, Gomes will be in charge of enhancing the corporation's partnerships with other enterprise technology companies and outsourcing firms.
In addition to having an MBA degree, Gomes is an industry veteran, most recently working with Microsoft before joining Sitecore. During his tenure at Microsoft, Gomes spent the last 10 years as the senior product manager in the Office Business Platform Marketing group.
"Strategic and deeply entrenched alliances are central to Sitecore's vision," said Gomes. "I'm excited by the opportunity to create and extend industry relationships that help enterprises leverage WCM as a communications and digital marketing platform."
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, many individuals in the technology sector have MBA degrees.
