CardiacAssist, who makes the TandemHeart, recently announced that Kraig J. McEwen will join the company as president and chief executive officer (CEO), following the exit of Michael Garippa, who served in the position since 2002, according to the Financial Post.
McEwen, who has an MBA degree, has served in a number of executive roles during his professional career. Prior to coming on the CardiacAssist team, McEwen was the senior vice president of Medrad since 2004. Additionally, McEwen served as an executive with General Electric (GE) for four years.
McEwen told the news provider that he was excited to be coming on board with the company, as he feels the TandemHeart could make a difference.
"I am joining CardiacAssist because I sincerely believe that the TandemHeart can help save the lives of many more thousands of critically ill cardiac patients around the world," he said.
