Sometimes those who hold MBA degrees are often selected for managerial positions because company executives believe that they'd be a good fit in terms of leadership qualifications. Additionally, because MBAs are trained to think more in depth about their field, they typically have a great understanding of their sector.
NanoString Technologies, a life sciences company that markets solutions for detecting and counting target molecules in biological samples, recently announced that Nalini Murdter, who holds an MBA degree, will become its new chief business officer. Additionally, Brad Gray was named the president and chief executive officer (CEO).
Not only does Murdter have an MBA degree, but she also has more than 20 years of experience in the life sciences and diagnostic industries, which is what caught the attention of executives when it came to thinking of a person to fill the position.
William Young, the company's executive chairman, spoke of the vast experience of both Murdter and Gray.
"Both executives bring to the team deep knowledge of the life sciences market as well as broad business strategy experience that will be highly valuable as we evaluate the various commercialization and partnering opportunities available to us," he said.
Having an MBA degree may be able to help you move up the corporate ranks at a faster pace than having just a bachelor's degree.
