Sometimes, individuals who have MBAs are often sought to lead companies because executives believe the degree is valuable in terms of teaching people how to become leaders.
MasterCard Worldwide, a well-known credit card company, recently announced that Carlos Menendez will join the company as the group executive for global debit on September 1st. Menendez will be in charge of innovation, commercialization and development of the go-to market strategies for the company on a global level.
Menendez, who has an MBA degree, previously worked for Citigroup for the past 14 years, serving as the company's chief operation officer (COO) of Western Europe, where he was in charge of consumer banking products in four countries.
"We are excited to have Carlos join us in our mission to deliver innovative and compelling debit solutions to the global marketplace," said Tim Murphy, chief product officer of MasterCard Worldwide, told the news provider. "Consumers continue to choose debit as their preferred method of payment and financial management, replacing cash in countries around the world."
